Worthing Food & Drink Festival
Steyne Gardens 7th and 8th September 2024
A warm afternoon in Worthing, the air was filled with delicious smells! It could mean only one thing the Worthing Food and Drink festival was back for 2024!
Now I have to admit my first move when visiting any food festival is to check out the area. I seriously can’t make any purchases until I’ve seen what’s on display. Its about priorities and what I fancy! Sometimes I know a vendor or I recognise a stand I particularly want to visit but, as a rule, there is only so much space in my stomach at these events. I have to choose wisely – although everything looked truly delicious and smelled divine so it was more a case of what I fancied eating or something new!
With lots of stalls covering almost every cuisine you could think of and the added bonus of drinks stalls, beer, cocktails and Worthing Gin readily available.
It was a very good morning seeing the stalls of different foods and drink, I had come nice tasters of honey, beers and cider. I couldnt resist buying some very tasty fudge (something for later!). I sampled a tasty hog roast wrap at the hog roast stall and a good pint of lager at the beer tent to wash it down.
Good to see Jonny’s on display, their outlets in Goring and in Worthing’s town are a regular for me for a coffee or American Pancakes, crispy bacon and maple syrup. A perfect breakfast stop for me, their burgers are pretty good too!
There were a lot of people but it was easy to move around and see everything on offer. Good to see Worthing’s Town Crier, Bob Smytherman, was on hand. He was spotted watching a cookery demonstration.
A traditional Punch and Judy show was running for the little ones.
Some juggling chefs were also spotted!
A wander further on and I wanted something sweet. That was a hard choice too! Crepes, waffles, delicious cakes, sweet drinks and little snacks such as baklava were everywhere. It was very hot and humid, only one thing for it! Â Ice cream. Not just any ice cream. Fried Ice cream! Delicious.
There were so many creative and aesthetically pleasing stalls to compliment the Food & Drink on offer. The sounds and colours were brilliant.
The colours and artwork on some of the stalls were stunning!
There was an unmistakeable festival vibe going on.
Everywhere you looked there was excellent quality food and produce. Then I caught a whiff of smoke! Something was cooking!
Check out the open fire cooking! Oh my. Delicious!
There were plenty of Vegetarian options alongside Vegan choices. Now where was that Rum stand?
Don’t forget to follow up on the stands, for the local producers and restaurants whose faire you enjoyed. Show them some support and pay them a visit during the year if you can! Many of the stalls have a social media presence.
As always, this was a fantastic event and well done to everyone involved! I can’t wait for next year and fingers crossed for the same variety of choice and good weather. I am ready!
Jonny’s now please set me up with some pancakes and a strong black coffee! I’m coming!
