Are you ready to go back in time and relive the incredible memories of Busted’s videos, songs and live performances? From the moment they burst onto the music scene with their debut single “What I Go to School For,” Busted has captivated audiences around the world with their infectious melodies and electrifying stage presence. The crowd were ready after what seemed like a long wait following the opening support. I understand the delay was to allow late arrivals to get into the venue. A couple of attendees feinted in the crush and heat. The brilliant show stewards were passing out water to those that needed it.

I had been allocated a tricky spot to do some photography. I was situated between two large confetti canons and behind a huge runway that had been built. It was roughly 6 feet high. I am a bit shorter than that and so couldn’t see or indeed take a photo unless I was on tip toe. A few shorter members of the crowd behind me were not overly happy only being able to see Busted from the waste up. The band did use the runway, but Busted did not make that much use of it. The other side of the wall contained another part of the crowd, who had purchased I am guessing more expensive tickets.

As the lights dim and the crowd erupts into cheers, Busted takes the stage with an electrifying energy that is contagious. The band members, Charlie, Matt, and James, are masters of their craft, effortlessly playing their instruments and delivering powerful vocals. Their chemistry on stage is undeniable, as they seamlessly move from one song to the next, keeping the audience on their toes.

Prepare to be amazed as Busted takes you on an unforgettable musical journey. The set list for a Busted concert is a carefully curated mix of their greatest hits and new material. From the infectious pop-rock anthem “Year 3000” to the slower numbers. Each song is performed with an intensity and passion that is impossible to ignore.

The intro tape featuring Christopher Lloyd as Doc from Back To The Future – a nod to the song Year 3000 played out. The curtains dropped, smoke billowed and Busted were silhouetted on the Brighton Centre stage. The chords for Air Hostess and a “Lets Go” and the crowd erupts. The stage lights illuminate the band members, and the atmosphere becomes electric.

Fans young and old, who have grown up listening to Busted’s music, can’t help but sing along to every word. A new single was played live, Loser Kid, a cracking Busted track that went down well with the crowd.

Mmm Bop, a cover of Hansons mega hit was up. Hanson are the support for most of the gigs on this tour. I have to say I was a little disappointed to learn they were not included for the Brighton show. The set powered along making it impossible for anyone to resist tapping their feet or nodding their heads along to the beat.

What I Go to School For
The beginning of Busted’s career started with a bang as they rocked the stage with their debut hit, What I Go to School For. The catchy lyrics and upbeat tempo had fans singing along and dancing throughout. Charlie Simpson, Busted’s guitarist and co-vocalist, brought his melodic sensibilities to the table, adding a touch of pop-infused punky guitar to the track. Matt Willis, the band’s bassist joining in with the bands drummer, as James fired a strong vocal. It all came together providing that energetic rhythm that propelled the song forward.

I know a fair bit of Busteds material and was thankful to hear all of those tracks tonight. Some of the songs I didn’t recall included Everything I Knew, Falling For You and She Wants To Be Me. I didn’t know those songs, but the crowd did! Good One also in the set, another new Busted track and its a cracker!

Matt took some time introducing the number Thunderbirds Are Go. Shame about the movie but the song was a cracker and again featured a great video featuring the best bits of the movie! It sounded immense live as the video screens showed a montage of Thunderbirds clips. Brilliantly executed. Thunderbird 4 looked as if it was hovering above the stage.

Year 3000
A rocking rendition of The Undertones Teenage Kicks fired everyone one up into a frenzy again as the end of the gig was approaching. I think everyone was up and dancing for that one!

No Busted concert would be complete without the iconic song, Year 3000. As the crowd joins in for the chorus, the energy in the venue reaches its peak and those confetti canons I mentioned earlier were fired. This was to be the last song of the set. The air was thick with the ticker tape floating. I think everyone got covered with the stuff.
