Friday 2nd September 2016: Consisting of two sets of brothers, the four piece band The Sherlocks came to Concorde 2 in Brighton to perform their sell out indie-rock. They rocked The Concorde 2.
This isn’t really a review of the show – but a chance to air some previously unseen pics from the gig. Fresh from supporting The Libertines on a string of UK dates, Yorkshire-based band The Sherlocks set up camp in Brighton for a gig in Brighton’s Concorde 2. The Sherlocks have quickly grown quite a reputation for their songs and live sets. Concorde 2 was sold out.

I remember the the room really started to fill up moments before The Sherlocks took to the stage for their first performance in a while in Brighton. The energetic and watertight show opened with ‘Last Night’ seeing front-man Kieran adopt a no-nonsense approach – straight into making that guitar work and vocals. The hits continued to follow thick and fast, as I recall, in the form of ‘You’ve Made A Mistake’ and ‘Was It Really Worth It?’. The Sherlocks never let up on the energy never, not for a second. They all looked to be enjoying the set as much as the crowd. One song after another, an astonishing set for such a young band.

The urgent drumming with patterns and fills from Brandon, that terrific bass playing from Andy, and, oh yes, an abundance of power riffs from Josh and Kiaran filled the venue. The earlier single ‘Heart of Gold’ is an exciting number and that lifted the crowd even higher! That night their many, many fans packed themselves into the front rows of the venue, and they sang and chanted along to every word. Working almost as hard as the band they had come to see! Awesome.

Was a great night and huge thanks to the guys for letting me stay for the set with my camera working on overdrive. Its a night I will not forget in a hurry. Great to meet up with them after, Andy asking if I had got any good shots. Met the guys after for a signing – and they gave me a signed 7″ “Last Night”. What a terrific bunch of talented guys The Sherlocks are.
The Sherlocks had worked hard for nearly an hour and a half – but still found time to come out for a meet and greet. Check the pic out – they are all there! At the time of writing this the band are about to set off to Canada and the USA for a short tour. Have a good one – but do come back to Brighton soon!
