Northbrook College – MET – Rocking it at Concorde 2 – an update

I had been out and about town as it was the Great Escape music festival in Brighton photo’ing a few acts. A quick dash to Concorde 2 and made it in time to catch a few performances from the talented MET students. Again the students were on top form displaying their skills and performance abilities. Some of those nervy jitters from earlier performances had gone, and here they were on stage at Concorde 2! Congratulations and well played to everyone who took part. Again a most enjoyable set of live music.

Rocking it at Northbrook College

Cameras loaded it was time for a drive out to Northbrook College in Sussex. I had been to one of these fine gig nights before and some of the pics from that night can be found on Media Works on Facebook.

Last time I had been to an event at Northbrook the various bands, and there were plenty, had three songs to play. This time it was a strict two songs per band. I just want to note here that the guys that played tonight have moved on massively from that first ever “gig”night. Some great songs backed with top notch musicianship and singing. Well done to all!

Song choices

Songs from all genres filled the venue from AC/DC, Green Day, Marvin Gaye and some Rage against The Machine. There is no way anyone could have got bored with the music! Astonishing selections and again the bands and performers should be congratulated for that!

Watch here as two bands play and merge into one short “live” teaser video.

Gremlins!

There were a few sound issues, but that didn’t stop any of the acts giving 100%. Considering the number of people playing, the wide range of instruments and the number of microphones it was hardly surprising. I have been to many gigs where those pesky gremlins creep in. Its how you deal with them that proves your stamina and professionalism – and all of the bands and stage crews did a great job overcoming the tech difficulties.

The sound guys did a great job as did the lighting crew. I am guessing these roles were covered by the students. The smoke machine did seem to go into overdrive at times!

The Performers – all stars!

Some great guitar playing as the bands rocked out for their set. Some rocking drumming just blew away the crowd!

We were treated to some great vocals, some rock, some melody and acoustic. At times we reached for our ear defenders and other times we were drawn in close to share an intimate song with a performer. Well done to all of the singers who did such a great job in helping to deliver a great showcase of new, young talent. If you were nervous, and no doubt some of you were, you didn’t show it and that’s a tough thing to do and manage.

It really was a stunning evening and very well organised by the event team. The crowd was made up of performers, students and proud parents. All seemingly enjoying the chance to see friends and family perform and it was a privilege to be there to take part in a night of talent, diversity and energy.

So sorry if your picture isn’t here. You can see more pics from this great night as they have been posted up on Facebook.
