The Green Door store back on 23 August 2021 held what was promised to be an exciting double band night replicating Bauhaus and The Cramps. That was the last time the bands were in Brighton.  Tonight in Komedia in Brighton was, as was the last time we got a visit,  the last night of the UK Tour. That previous tour was slotted in during the Pandemic series of lockdowns. Komedia was pretty near capacity with people waiting to see what was about to be unleashed and to hear some great music. Quite a few audience members were at that Green Door Store performance, and so the atmosphere was expectant, excited and full of anticipation!

Jack – voice, Jess on guitar, Madi on Guitar, Joni on Drums and the brilliant Harrison on bass guitar. They all looked great!

Bauhaus receive the ultimate tribute, She’s In Bauhaus made up with members from the UK & USA, having had original Bauhaus members in the audience like David J & Kevin Haskins who said “Jack’s voice and  moves made me forget I was not watching Peter Murphy on stage from my drum kit”. Again I find myself in agreement, Jack was absolutely stunning.

Jack has the look and the sound, and nailed it down perfectly for the Komedia crowd tonight. Dressed in an open chested leather wrap-around and a kind of  black string vest, and leather jeans, all topped off with some spectacular shades. The hair piled up high and held in place with hairspray. Make up on, lips daubed in red and we were off!

It was still pretty close to the 42 anniversary of the Bauhaus release of Bela Lugosi’s Dead, and some may argue that this single release was the Birth of Goth?

The band already in place as Jack bounced out onto the stage. He smiled and started up the vocals, the Komedia crowd literally held its breath as we heard those opening tones. Jack started and we all breathed out. Hell this guy is good, real good!

A spot on Bela Lugosi’s Dead opened the set. Jack seemed to be full of energy; you would not have guessed this was the last night of a UK wide tour. He looked fresh and sounded just great!

Jack, struck poses for the audience and constantly stalked the stage with a brooding intensity, often looking directly into the lighting or some of the many camera phones. He would inject some fabulous humour during the set and would from time to time interact with the crowd. Jack is superb, a strong performance laced with pure theatricality. He has again surrounded himself with a dream band of musicians, all very strong and also seemed to be enjoying the gig.

On the setlist were notable songs such as Kick In The Eye and Stigmata Martyr. Perfectly performed by Jack and delivered on point by his band.

Jacks voice sliced through the Komedia. It demonstrated both the singer’s absolute vocal power and control. This vocal performance was even more impressive considering this was the last night of an extensive tour. They had been in London the night before.

Kudos to the band, they were on point as they delivered Kick In The Eye, Silent Hedges, Double Dare Mirror People. And many more. A stunning array of material performed perfectly!

The band took a bow to an appreciative round of applause from the crowd after the set closer of Ziggy Stardust. What we had witnessed was brilliant and downright good fun. Bauhaus fans filled the Komedia for the “concert” tonight that they perhaps thought they would never see!

That was a terrific set – well played! Jack Atlantis, as Peter Murphy, as surmised by former Bauhaus members, he was authentically spot on. The theatrics and vocals were astonishing. He absolutely delivered it tonight from the second he set foot on stage until the very end. If you get the chance to see these guys – go see ’em!
