A fairly new outfit, Blackfeather were set to play at Brightons very own Rock and Roll Hotel – The Pelirocco.
“If you like loud, hard rock and roll then these guys deliver – and I can only see them getting better in the future. If you get the chance, go see them live…they also have Brighton’s best, budget rock journalist’s seal of approval.” – Brighton Rocks 2000
I had heard that the guys had put in a few shows at The Prince Albert and Green Door Store – you can immediately sense that these, as yet unsigned, guys are hungry for it.
(details from their Facebook page)
James Martin – Vocals / Bass
Alfred Atkins – Guitar
James Murrell – Drums and Backing vocals
Their genre is self described as metal/punk and yes, that seems to fit the bill. The band, recently downsized to a three piece, launched into their set.
A short but perfectly formed set. James on bass and vocals supplying what a front-man should do – great vocals and a solid bass mixed with a slice of comfortable interaction with their audience. Alfred on backing vocals provides a full on guitar mixing up the genres and music style with ease. The other James, at the back with his baseball cap pulled over his face provided a solid percussion background to the songs and support on backing vocals. Some of the songs I think included Hunting season, Skeletons and Wolves, Goodbye and Tomorrow.
One of the songs lasted a good 6 minutes or so, a stunning track, highs/lows and soft/rock all mixed and on point and the final song, an all out rocker totally proved how good these guys are!
Give this a watch/listen – a live mix!
They now can add Scene Sussex seal of approval! Good job guys.
A huge thanks to the guys for letting me do the photography for this – Thank you Blackfeather!
